In 2018, a founding member was in the market for a home that included space for his family of 4 and his aging in-laws. Homes on the market included in-law suites in the basement or above the garage. Neither floor plan was conducive for his mother-in-law, diagnosed with dementia and struggled with stairs. He then met with Evan Weiss, a long-time friend, at Carolina Classic Builders, to discuss the need. Evan mentioned the growing requests from his clients requiring a living space that would be for aging parents, long term visiting family, or children moving back home..
That is when the idea of Generational Homes was born.
There is an increasing demand for homes designed for multiple generations to live COMFORTABLY under one roof. According to Pew Research Center, 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 each day and with the costs of senior and assisted living facilities soaring, there is a tectonic shift happening.
Families can stay close together and control the care. Together they can pool their financial resources, entrust real estate, and create invaluable memories while returning to a life centered around the most important thing…FAMILY.
Today, our goal is to leverage our decades of home building experience and be the leading company focused on multi-generational living.
“Multi-generational living arrangements might improve financial resources, buffer stress, reduce loneliness, enhance intellectual sharing, and generate structural social capital, thereby elevating the level of one’s health,” according to findings published online last year in the journal SSM-Population Health.
....is focused on building quality, new homes and renovating existing homes to accommodate multi-generational living and bring families together.
Generational Homes will eliminate the high costs of assisted living facilities by bringing families together.
